Sharing Linlithgow’s Stories
Linlithgow Museum cares for and shares the stories of the people, places and events that have shaped our town.
From royal connections and remarkable local people to industry, everyday life and stories that are still unfolding today, we preserve Linlithgow's heritage and bring it to life through our collections, exhibitions, learning and activities.
We want the museum to be a welcoming place where people can explore the past, ask questions, discover something new and share their own connections with Linlithgow's story.
Located in the heart of the High Street, Linlithgow Museum is here for local people and visitors alike — caring for the town's heritage today and helping ensure it can continue to be discovered, enjoyed and explored in the future.
Our Museum
Linlithgow Museum is an independent museum run by Linlithgow Heritage Trust and supported by a dedicated team of staff, trustees and volunteers.
Our collections preserve objects, photographs, documents and memories connected with Linlithgow and its people. Through exhibitions, events, learning activities, talks and community projects, we aim to make those collections accessible and relevant to as wide an audience as possible.
But museums aren't only about preserving the past.
We continue to collect stories and memories, work with local people and partner organisations, develop new exhibitions and explore new ways of sharing Linlithgow's heritage.
From Annet House to the Partnership Centre
For many years, Linlithgow's museum was housed in Annet House on the High Street.
In 2019, the museum opened in its new home on the first floor of Linlithgow Partnership Centre, allowing the collections and stories of the town to be presented in a modern and accessible museum space.
Today, visitors can explore three galleries telling Linlithgow's story, discover changing exhibitions and take part in an expanding programme of events, activities and learning opportunities.

We want the museum to be a welcoming place where local people and visitors alike can discover something new — whether you're exploring the town's history for the first time, researching a family connection, bringing children to discover the galleries, sharing a memory or simply popping in to see what's changed.

Linlithgow Heritage Trust
Linlithgow Museum is managed by Linlithgow Heritage Trust, a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).
The Trust is responsible for caring for the museum and its collections and for supporting the museum's development for the future.
We work alongside our volunteers and with local organisations, museums, heritage partners and communities to preserve and share Linlithgow's heritage.
